Please join us as we kickoff of MVP (Mead Volunteer Program) which combines Watch D.O.G.S. and the M&Ms program.

Watch D.O.G.S. stands for ‘Dads of Great Students’ and is intended to encourage more participation by male role models in schools.  M&Ms (Moms of Mustangs) was added this past year to access ‘vertical’ volunteer scheduling.

The Mead Volunteer Program is designed to get more role models in school by providing a vertical scheduling plan v. the more traditional horizontal schedule especially for working adults or volunteers who can commit to a day of support periodically during the year.  This does not include opportunities available through the PTSA.

Participation is available for dads, moms, grandparents, and adult uncles and aunts of current Mead students and is popular with working adults.

Some program adjustments include:

  • ½ Day Commitment
  • MVP Volunteer Training—including tips for working with children (on MS Teams)
  • Start or End your day in your child’s classroom
  • Unified scheduling

We will have a calendar to sign up beginning October 13 until December, so think of a good date or 2 that you might be able to be an MVP!

What should I do now?

  • You MUST be a cleared LWSD volunteer. You can apply on the district website here.  Volunteer status is only good for 2 years. That means many of you will need to check your status and possibly reapply using the same link.  You can check your status by emailing [email protected].  Applications can take 1-2 weeks before it is approved so plan accordingly when signing up for a day.
  • Sign up for a Parent Volunteer Training Session (on Microsoft TEAMS)
  • Reach out with any questions: James ‘Kimo’ Spray, Mead AP, [email protected]
