Upcoming School Year

We’re looking for enthusiastic parents and caregivers to support our school community! The PTSA helps enhance students’ learning experiences through events, programs, and volunteer support.

Below are our open Board and Committee Chair positions for the upcoming school year.

BOARD ROLES (We cannot run the PTA next year without these roles)

  • President: The President of the Board works closely with the school principal and also works closely with the Vice President. They take turns with the rest of the executive board attending the LW Council PTSA monthly meetings. They typically write up the agenda (from the template) and send it to the Secretary to email to the board. The President may speak at school information nights. The President moderates the monthly Board of Directors (BOD) meetings and the three General Membership meetings per year.
    • Meeting requirement: The President must attend and lead the monthly BOD meetings.
    • Time commitment: Time commitment will vary and depends on what you want to do in a school year. At a minimum, the role includes running monthly Board meetings and General Membership meetings. From there, everything depends on how many PTSA‑sponsored programs, events, activities, and other items under the “PTSA” umbrella the Board chooses to support that year. It is fluid and flexible, and every year will be different.
  • Vice President: The Vice President role is the “bridge” between committee chairs and the Board. They report committee updates to the rest of the Board at the monthly Board of Directors (BOD) meetings.
Much like the President role, the workload of the Vice President depends on how involved the VP chooses to be, what the Board prioritizes in a given year, and how much the VP prefers to delegate versus engage directly. The Vice President takes turns with the President, Secretary, and Treasurer attending the LW Council PTSA monthly meetings. These meetings are very informative and provide insight into what is happening at other schools across the district.
    • Meeting requirement: The Vice President must attend monthly BOD meetings and actively participate in Board discussions.
    • Time commitment: At the beginning of the year (usually August), the new Board meets for a retreat to decide priority projects for the year. As an executive board member, the Vice President is required to complete PTSA‑approved training and attend monthly meetings.
  • Treasurer: The Treasurer runs monthly financial reports and presents them at the monthly Board of Directors (BOD) meetings. They receive reimbursement forms and write reimbursement checks, which are co‑signed by the President or Vice President. The Treasurer receives a thorough handover from the current Treasurer, who is remaining at the school for several more years and is an excellent resource. The PTSA operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so there are required annual state filings. Taxes are completed by an accountant. The Treasurer also assists the Financial Review team in completing their work and must complete PTSA‑approved training.
    • Meeting requirement: The Treasurer must attend monthly BOD meetings to report on PTSA finances and support Board decision‑making.
