• Corporate Matching is when a corporate employer matches the monetary donation a qualifying employee makes to a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization, like Mead PTSA!
• For qualifying employees, it’s an easy way to double their donations and help the PTSA go even farther in helping to support Mead Elementary throughout the school year.
• Some corporate matching includes donating for every hour you spend volunteering. For example, Microsoft donates $25 for every hour their employee spends volunteering at a qualifying charitable organization.

• Not every employer or company offers a corporate matching gifts or funds program. If you are not sure, check with your employer’s HR department to find out.
• Many corporations require that the organization they are matching funds for have 501(3)(c) non-profit status. The Mead PTSA does!
• Most employers with matching programs make it easy for their employees to match donations. Visit your Company’s Employee website for information and procedures. Mead is unable to sign up on your behalf.
• You may need to ask your Human Resources department for information, fill out the proper forms, and return them to the school office, Attn: Margaret Mead PTSA's Treasurer. For other companies, it’s a simple as designating " Margaret Mead Elementary School PTSA, Chapter 2.8.38" as the recipient organization.* *The address listed for Mead PTSA may include Tacoma, WA. This is because the Washington State PTA is our Registered Agent. Any donations designated to Mead PTSA will be forwarded to us from WSPTA.
• Many companies also allow you submit receipts to them after you've made your donation to the school. Be sure to save your receipt from your donation from Mead PTSA. Most of the platforms the PTSA uses for fundraising, examples include 99Pledges, and Givebacks, will issue a receipt with all the necessary documentation. Check with your employer for details for how to submit a receipt after donating.
• Most companies send the matching dollars on a quarterly basis. Please check back with your Company’s Employee website to make sure that the matching amount has been processed.
• Many companies have certain requirements for matching employees’ gifts. Some companies will only match donations that meet a minimum dollar amount, such as $50 or $100. So it’s better to give an amount that meets the minimum dollar amount once rather than giving a lesser amounts on several different occasions.
o For example, donations of $15 at Meet & Greet and $35 for Walk-a-Thon would not be matched by a company that requires a $50 minimum donation. These donation amounts cannot be combined so you are better off making a one-time donation of $50+ at just one event.
• Many companies also have a Volunteer Matching Program that will make donations to Mead PTSA based on the number of hours you volunteer with our PTSA. Companies such as Microsoft, Boeing, and Amazon pay an hourly rate for your volunteer time. It’s easy for Mead PTSA to benefit from these offerings. Simply submit your volunteer hours on your company’s employee volunteer site. A Mead PTSA Board Member will confirm these hours prior to payment from the company.
o For example, Microsoft will donate $25/hour to our PTSA when you volunteer with our organization. Please check with your Human Resources Department to confirm their participation in a Volunteer Matching Program.
• While every company is different, the following information may help you in filling out forms for matching donations with your company.
• If you are giving through an employer/employee portal during a Mead Fundraising Event, please follow your employer instructions. Then submit a receipt from the the donation portal to Mead PTSA that includes:
Put this receipt in your student's fundraising envelope and turn it in to the school during the event. That way your student, and their class, get credit for your personal donation!
• Mead PTSA’s mission is partnering with staff, students, and their families to create a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment that provides an enjoyable and positive experience for the entire school community. One of the major ways we do this is by providing funds, generously donated by community members like you, to the school. Below are some examples of where those funds went in 2024-2025*.
• Matching funds account for approximately 20% of the annual PTSA budget, and roughly a quarter of our annual fundraising goal, which allows us to fund or sponsor many of the programs that help make Mead such an amazing school. What a difference a little paperwork can make!
