The PTSA is sponsoring a Mead Spelling Bee on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 6:30pm (check in begins at 6:10pm) in the Mead Commons If a student would like to participate, he/she can start studying the word list. Email letahamilton3834@comcast.net for a PDF of the Scripps National Spelling Bee 2019-2020 Word List. Register your child for the spelling bee here . Since this is a PTSA sponsored event, we are offsetting the cost of registration for all PTSA members at Mead. If you are not a PTSA member, you will be charged a $17 registration fee. Green School Cafeteria Helper Needed
IT'S NOT EASY BEING GREEN With the cafeteria being a new experience, students are learning how to adopt practices in reducing and recycling waste. As a green school helper, you’ll direct students in discarding food and trash waste in the appropriate bins. Recognizing the difference between compostibles, recyclables, and trash, is an integral stepping stone in educating students the importance of environmental stewardship. A minimum of 2 helpers is needed to cover the three lunch periods that run from 11:25am - 1:05pm. Fall 2019 Math Challenge Tournament
Calling all Math Challengers and their supporters!   The Fall 2019 Math Challenge Tournament will be held at Margaret Mead Elementary on Dec. 5th at 6pm.   Due to popular demand, student registration is now closed.      Math Challenge Tournament is a National Mathematics tournament open to Grade 2 – 6 students. Students in Grade 1 can participate; however, they will be competing at a grade 2 level.    Last year close to 3,000 students from various states (WA, CA, NY, MD, NC, etc.) participated. It’s an annual competition hosted by the PTA that goes up all the way to National level (starting at school level, then district, state and national).
