Traffic/Parking Lot update Reminder

Traffic continues to be a challenge at Mead. There is upcoming work that will impact both our parking lot and driveway as well as 216th.This will most likely result in increased traffic challenges at arrival, dismissal and parking during the day. Please be aware and consider parking and walking to school on these days, if possible.

October 8 and 9 – traffic on 216th and into the parking lot will be slow due to water main work on these two days.
October 16, 17, 18 – traffic will be re-routed in our parking lot on these days. Busses will unload and load on 216th. There will be no automobile parking on 216th during these three days.

Mead's largest fundraiser of the year is right around the corner

Tickets are selling fast. Purchase tickets online at https://meadptsa.tiptopauction.com/auction

You can learn more about the PTSA across the Lake Washington School district at http://www.lwptsa.net/ to learn more about where your donations go to and how much our staff and teachers depend on participation for this event in order to have planned activities, special teacher requests, Dreambox, IXL, Renaissance, and various other programs at MEAD that the PTSA only provides.

We want your candy!!
Your leftover Halloween candy can help put smiles on the faces of our Troops, Veterans and First Responders!

The Mead PTSA Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team is hosting our first-ever Halloween Candy Give-back. Candy sent-in will be donated to Operation Gratitude, a volunteer-based organization that annually sends 250,000+ care packages to Veterans, New Recruit Graduates, First Responders, Wounded Heroes, Caregivers, and to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas and their families. Your candy donations will be included in the many care packages that are sent out each year. In 2017, more than 400,000 pounds of candy was donated to Operation Gratitude and distributed to America’s Heroes through its care package programs.

All you need to do is send in any leftover or unwanted Halloween Candy to school by November 7th. Please, no loose candy, pixie sticks, or other powdery candy. Teachers will have a donation bin in their classroom for students to drop their candy.

Please reach out to engagement@meadptsa.org with any questions.

National PTA Art Contest! Deadline is Friday, November 2nd!

Does your child love art and would like a chance to display and celebrate their work? Then consider participating in the PTA Reflections Art Contest! It’s an annual art competition hosted by the PTA that goes up all the way to national level (starting at school level, then district, state and national).

The theme for the 2018/19 school year is Heroes Around Me. Entries are judged largely on interpretation of the theme. There are 6 categories to enter – 2D visual arts, photography, music composition, literature, film and dance choreography (please note- our district does not accept 3D visual art). Every young artist can submit up to one entry per category. Entries are to be 100% kid produced.

Learn more about rules and the contest at: https://www.wastatepta.org/events-programs/reflections

Please make sure to read through the rules before you start the project, as the format requirements
are very specific. Deadline to send in your artwork is Friday, November 2nd.

A collection box and entry forms can be found in the Mead office. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email Tracey Montoya tracey.montoya@gmail.com or Kerstin Wick kerstin.wick@comcast.net
